Pink Might Be The New Orange
October has typically been identified with the color orange for the Halloween celebration and fall hues. However, since October became Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the color pink has slowly taken over as the color of the month! In fact, I’ve even seen pink jack-o-lanterns!
The point is that Breast Cancer Awareness is a month long, nationally recognized and promoted event. Your company would be well advised to start ordering your pink items now so that you will be able to properly show your support.
Breast Cancer Does Not Discriminate.
Breast cancer is an equal opportunity disease. It does not discriminate. While the disease is primarily found in women, men do get breast cancer too. It does not discriminate between races either. So just a tip, make sure your promotional materials are non-gender or race specific.
With fund raising events held in every sport from golf tournaments to walk-a-thons, bike-a-thons and marathons, and with on-site seminars and screenings, the call for pink items is huge. In past years, we have been out of pink things long before October 1st when the campaign kicks off.
Don’t Feel Like The Pink Elephant in The Room.
Whether your company is sponsoring a corporate or community event, whether you’re flooding your building in pink lights for the month, booked Pink for a concert, will be looking at the world through pink rose-colored glasses, rolling out the pink carpet or renting a pink Cadillac, now’s the time to think pink unless you want to feel like the pink elephant in the room!
If your company designates specific days for team members to wear pink, you’ll want to place your order for polo shirts and t-shirts. For outdoor events you’ll need a variety of items such as cups, totes and caps. Pink bracelets, pens, candies and Emory boards are also very popular.
Pink Takes Precedence
Since virtually everyone likes to get in on the crusade to help raise awareness of and bring us closer to a cure for breast cancer, the demand for pink has far surpassed the demand for orange items during the month of October. Some people have taken to calling the month “Pinktober.” So get ahead of the crowd and get ready to show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
